KOLOMBO (2DIY4 / SUARA / SEOUL COMMUNITY)
Olivier Grégoire is one of the most prolific and reknowned producer/dj from Belgium. He truly masters the art of modern production like not many of his peers and has experimented many dance music genres trough various pseudonyms, leading to a huge discography, that includes releases on some of the world's finest electronic imprints.
Under his massive KOLOMBO moniker he's recently had loads of solid releases and remixes on labels such as Kompakt, Noir Music, Turbo, Eskimo, Future Classic, Systematic, Boxer... He consequently tours massively worldwide all year-round, djing his mixture of electronic house and disco and enjoying loyal followings in Brazil, Mexico and Russia. He's also running his own house Loulou Records imprint, together with his partner Jerome, with who he produces and djs worldwide too as LOULOU PLAYERS. The label has a firm house music policy with a knack at scouting future talents and gets strong support from the likes of MANDY, Richy Ahmed, Solomun, Ivan Smagghe, H.O.S.H, Wally Lopez, Chlöé and many more.
And last but not least, he's also been creating more leftfield electronic music since 2008 with Brussels dance-music pioneer Geoffroy Mugwump, causing a stir with their killer MUGWUMP 12's and remixes for Kompakt (mainly) and on Gigolo, R&S, Cocoon, Throne Of Blood, Misericord, International Feel, Permanent Vacation or Endless Flight.
After months of hard work, the forthcoming Mugwump debut album that includes great guests/vocal featurings is now ready to be unleashed. Hard work, constancy, open-mindness and huge technical skills are the key ingredients that define Kolombo's path to success within dance music today.
TROUBLE ON MY MIND - Kolombo
You still have the last release on your mind but the fourth release of the young German label Seoul community is about to kick off. Seoul Community remains true to itself with the new EP by the Belgian newcomer Kolombo. This EP surprises with a non-standard and functional sound which can’t be stuck in a box when it comes to genres.
Kolombo has already delivered a massive output on various labels like the Hamburg-based label 2DIY4 (a sub-label of Diynamic), Kompakt, Suara and Warung Recordings. He produced his tracks with much love for the detail and here he gives proof of his outstanding talent with three exclusive tracks.
MY OWN BUSINESS EP - Kolombo
For the fifth release on 2DIY4 they got one big fish on board: Kolombo from Belgium is releasing his first EP on the Hamburg-based sublabel of Diynamic!Already having worked together with Kompakt and other considerable labels, while leading his own label Loulou Players, he brings in a huge amount of experience to this young label, what can only be the best for both parties. He introduces the "My Own Business EP" with first track "My Own Business": with a deep bass vocal which keep coming up differently in the entire fourtracker and connects the entire diynamic piece; with a strong kick and bass he introduces the EP very good and sets the direction.Tightening the style of the EP with the second a-side "Whatever U Like", Kolombo comes around with a big melodic basslines and a vibe which keeps everybody hardly calm. The tension on this release is constantly rising with every track.Being very melodious with "Busta Ass" Kolombo creates a ear-wormy track not only fitting for the club. "Dancing On The Floor" is the last quarter and the track most bursting with energy. As the name already says this exploading piece will bring everyone on the floor immediately.
DON'T GO AWAY - Kolombo
"The kitties are not big fans of this trend of deep house tunes with indie and poppy influences and big basslines. It's not a matter of quality but quantity. Although sometimes you get gems like "Don't Go Away", the new tune from the prolific duo Kolombo & Loulou Players. It's a nasty and minimalistic house song with a weird bassline and funny voices. A potential dancefloor hit. Two of our favorite artists of the moment -Zombie Disco Squad and Snuff Crew- are on the control of the remixes. Zombie Disco Squad keeps the nasty flow of the original with an explosive baseline. Snuff Crew brings his characteristic old school groove, making a basic but fun version of the original one. We cannot forget about Nanana, a disco monster. Perfect b side for one of the funniest Suara records ever. Remind, we don't care about styles, just about quality… and fun. Be happy.
