Lorenzo Bartoletti Mindshake Records (English)

In this week we present you another exclusive and rare interview with the Mindshake artist Lorenzo Bartoletti. Take a look and read how to become a Mindsake artist.
"Hey Lorenzo, thank you for taking your time to give Viva la Electronica an interview."
Thanks to you guys! It's my pleasure to be here.
"In the last interview Dela told us you belong to the new talents of the Mindshake Crew. Can you tell us how you got in touch with Mindshake? "
First of all i take this opportunity to say Thanks to Dela for his words on the last interview: Thanks BrAther!
i had the occasion to talk with Paco almost 2 years ago during one of his gigs in Italy. I asked his e-mail to send him a promo of an upcoming remix that was going to be released in that period, i am talking about the remix of the track "Leland McWilliams - Cold Blooded". So, i sent the track to him and he liked it a lot. After that i was in contact with him and during the Monza's closing party in Ibiza i met Paco and he talked to me for the first time about the Mindshake project asking to me to listen some demos of mine to understand if my sound was cool for his project. After that i had my flight back to Italy in 2 hours and i remember that i have been closed in my studio for the next 2 or 3 weeks working on a new track and luckily he liked it. The track which i am talking about is "Absolutely", the track of my debut on Mindshake Records on the Forward Part II Ep along Paco, The Junkies and Dokser. And after 3 months of this release i had last december my own Ep on Mindshake, Safe and Sound EP with an AMAZING remix of Barem.
"What do you think about Mindshake? Is your releationship to Mindshake rather based on a buisness level or do you also have personal contact to the other artists?"
What i think about Mindshake?! in one word i can absolutely say: Family. We are all good guys with the same amazing passion for the music, no jealousy, no envy, we help each other to promote every single release of the label because everyone of us BELIEVE 100% in the project and is totally agree with the philosophy of the team. I think you can understand from these words that my relationship to Mindshake it's not only based on a business, i have personal contact with all the guys of the family especially with John Lagora, Alexis Cabrera, Barem, Dela. I can say that i really feel like in a family because also all of them make me feel to be a part of it.
"What do you think about Paco Osuna?"
I have to admit that i was and i am a big fan of him since many many years, maybe also him doesn't know this but it's the truth. I was a big follower of him during his gigs also before to start to produce music, i was just a "dj" and a real clubber jumping from a club to another all around Italy and Europe. I remember the first time i have seen him playing it was in Rome, if i remember well, and i was impressed of his dj set and his way to play the music, i asked to myself for a long time if he had like 3 or 4 hands. haha! Anyway, he is a friend, a brother, my mentor, someone that believed and believes in me; this is a great satisfaction that gives to me the motivation to work hard in the studio.
"Do you also still release on other labels?"
All my original stuffs are for Mindshake, i want to concentrate all my strength on this project so i am 100% focused on it. But i have some upcoming remixes coming up in the next months: one for my friend Sascha Sonido and will be released on Trapez Ltd the 18th June, another one is a remix for Cuartero that will be released on Witty Tunes and another one is for my friend Dela, upcoming on the argentinian Pild Records.
"Which artist would you like to remix in the future?"
First of all i would like to return the favor to Barem....he remixed me on my last ep, so i would like to remix him in the future ehehe! I would love to remix also John Lagora or Alexis Cabrera or even better i would love to do a collaboration with them in the future, so guys if you are reading this, now you know that we have to meet as soon as possible and set up something together :) And i take this opportunity also to say that, obviously, i would totally love to do something with the Mindshake boss Paco:)
"What's your favourite producing tool you use and do you also use hardware for your productions?"
I work with Ableton, Maschine from Native Instruments, one midi keybord Novation Remote SL MKII, and one midi controller Akai APC40. That's it!
"When did you first get in touch with electronic music and when did you decide to become a dj and producer?"
The first time i got in touch with electronic music is a very long time ago. I started like clubber in some clubs near my city: Jaiss, Insomnia, Tenax. I was regular at these places and i was completely fascinated with the figure of the dj and his way to interpret the music and move crowds. So i decided to try to start djing just for fun, just to play the music that i loved. I started to work on my father's company in the summer time to save for a pair of technics 1200 and a mixer and i began honing my skills and i was regular at the record store. Only in 2008 i decided it was time to began to experiment with productions.
"Which was the best moment in your dj career and which the worst one?"
The best moment is for sure my meeting with Paco and everything that went after that meeting, especially my gig at Club4 in Barcelona with Paco, that night is unforgettable for me. I totally love that club, the vibe of that place is amazing.
The worst one or the worst ones?! so many bad periods in my mind, especially all the bad people that i met in the past, so many promises so many lies, one guy in particular is in my mind, i can't and i don't want to say his name obviously, but i can only say that people like him are the "ruin" of this job and especially they are the ruin of your dreams and hopes. But never give up, never....with passion, dedication, determination and patience sooner or later results will come.
"Do you have a particular gig in the summer you are looking forward to? Like a certain festival or open air event?"
I am really looking forward to the next Mindshake Showcase in Barcelona at Club4 during the Sonar week, really can't wait to return to play there, it's my favorite club so far! And i am also really looking forward to play at Rise Club in Boston on June 30th.
"What's your most favourite tune from the last months you constantly play in your dj sets?"
Simple: Lauhaus, Kabale Und Liebe - Hiphouse (Paco Osuna Remix). I love it!
